FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Since the reopening of the Behavioral Health Center and the new leadership of our Director of Behavioral Health Ashley Occelien, our clients have been able to successfully work through their program with the care, support, and guidance from our certified masters-level counselors.
“I’ve seen our clients come in and really take advantage of the program: get a job, identify a program for housing, and maintain sobriety, in most cases,” says Occelien.
Occelien hopes that clients graduate from their program with a newfound independence and self-sufficiency.
Broward House helped 56 individuals receive substance abuse treatment and 98 other individuals were able to receive mental health services in the last year.
“We never know when we’re going to be in the state where we’re going to need a social worker.”
Our behavioral health team tries to “create a space where people feel safe to be vulnerable.”
